KIS’s Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a self-regulating business model that helps any company be socially accountable to itself, its stakeholders, and the public.

Kalangala Infrastructure Services Ltd (KIS)’s practice of corporate social responsibility is because its well conscious of the kind of impact it has on all aspects of society be it economic, social or environment. KIS’s decision to engage in CSR implies that in the normal course of business, it has to operate in positive ways that enhance both society and the environment.

KIS’s CSR plan aims at being more aware of the impact of its business on the rest of society, including our stakeholders and the environment.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility is an approach that contributes to sustainable development by delivering economic, social and environmental benefits for all stakeholders. This is more evident in the tabled efforts below.

2	National events	Support to National events like World Tourism Day 2017, Liberation Day, Independence Day, Mapeera Day	Financial support and the extra Ferry trips have always been given towards National events celebrations in Kalangala Overall Benefits: Promotion of good working relations between KIS and its Stakeholders. 3	Buganda Kingdom	Support to Ssese Football Club in the Buganda Masaza Cup Tournament	KIS has been supportive since 2016 – 2019 to Ssese Football Team by giving them Financial support; 2016 – 2 Millions Shillings and Jerseys 2017- 2 Million Shillings 2018 – 4 Millions Shillings 2019 – 7 Millions Shillings Overall Benefits: Ssese F. 3	Buganda Kingdom	Kabaka Birthday run in Ssese	KIS has been supportive to the Kabaka birthday run, Fistula and Sickle Cells runs by donating kits and financial support for four years now. (2016-2019) Overall Benefits: With KIS’s support this initiative began narrowing down to different parts of Buganda after being arranged by Ssese County in Kalangala. Participating Partners: 1. 4	Kalangala District	Financial Support to Kalangala District Local Councilors’ Tour 2018	Financial support given towards Local councilors tour to Gulu District for team building and benchmarking.
		Financial Support to the outgoing and incoming Kalangala District Officials.	Promotion of a good working relationship between KIS and other Stakeholders
		KIS Participation in local Sports tournaments. (Football and Volleyball).	Participation in locally organized tournaments. 		Education (Support to local schools in Kalangala).	Computers given to schools; Bishop Dunstan Nsubuga Secondary schools in 2014. Serwanga Lwanga Memorial S.S in 2016 Power line diversion at Bbeta Primary school in 2018. Overall Benefits: Uplifting academic performance of schools in Kalangala community. 5	Uganda Police	Donation of iron sheets to Uganda Police Post Kalangala and Uganda Marine Police Post-Lutoboka.	Iron sheets donated to Kalangala Central Police Station in 2016 and Uganda Marine Police Lutoboka in 2017. 6	Rotary Uganda	Rotary Cancer Run	Financial support accorded to the Rotary Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands in preparation of the activity since 2016 to date. Overall Benefits: Initiation of the idea for participation at regional levels begun with Rotary Club of Kalangala Ssese Islands and it was replicated even in other areas of the Uganda. 7	Ssese Community Development Association (SSECODA)	HIV/AIDS Prevention through Community awareness/sensitisation and sports. Nutrition (Backyard Gardening)	Financial support to the group since 2013 to date. Overall Benefits: Increased Community Awareness about HIV/AIDS in Kalangala. Participating Partners: 1.
